Become a Head of Cluster at the German-Baltic Youth Conference 2025 in Riga!
From October 16–19, 2025, the German-Baltic Future Foundation (DBJW) will host its annual youth conference in Riga, Latvia. This four-day event brings together young people (ages 16–30) from across Europe to engage in meaningful discussions around the theme "Rethinking Security Through Youth." We're looking for three committed and creative young leaders to lead thematic clusters and work closely with a group of Youth Ambassadors to develop real policy proposals for Europe.
As a Head of Cluster, you will guide your group in selecting a subtopic, shaping discussions, and preparing a policy paper that will be presented to Members of the European Parliament in Brussels after the conference. You will also receive an honorarium of €700 as recognition for your voluntary commitment.
You’ll begin working between June and August, defining your subtopic and co-selecting your team of 6–7 Youth Ambassadors. From September, you will meet regularly online to structure and lead discussions. At the conference in October, you will guide your group’s work and finalize the policy paper. In November, you will present your results in Brussels.
We are looking for people who:
✅ Are aged 16–30 and live in Europe
✅ Speak English at a high level (C1 or equivalent)
✅ Enjoy leading group discussions and organizing activities
✅ Can work independently and as part of a team
✅ Are passionate about European security and eager to learn more
✅ Have the time and motivation to commit (1 hour/week June–August, up to 4 hours/week September–December)
We welcome your ideas – from military and defense to cybersecurity, hybrid threats, democratic resilience, or climate-related security. Your creativity matters, so we encourage original, personal responses rather than AI-generated content.
📅 Application deadline: May 4th, 2025
